Summer 2009

Hi everyone, It is June and the Newkirks are busy, busy, busy!!! Sam will be three next month. We can't believe it!!! We had a conference with her teacher and Sam is advanced in most areas for her age and the teacher call her a joy to have in the class!!! Miss Melanie doesn't want her to move into the next class and frankly we will be really sad for her to leave that room because Sam loves her teachers and so do we. Sam gets more and more independent everyday and wants to do things herself. We are getting closer on the potty training, Sam has been doing it on her own terms like she does everything else. Jake is nine months old and getting so big!!! Can't believe he will be a year in September....where does the time go?? He is rolling everywhere, not sure if he will crawl as he gets places pretty fast by rolling there. He may just go straight to walking!!! Jake cut his first two bottom teeth in May and loves to smile and show them off. We had our first family of four vacation to San Diego in May and got to see our family and friends. We had a blast, we went to the zoo, Legoland, and the beach. We are looking forward to the rest of the summer!!!!

Spring 2009

Well Spring is here and the kids are getting big!!! Jake is sitting by himself and has become quite the chatterbox at eight months old. We think that he has figured out that if he wants to get a word in edgewise in this family, he needs to start speaking up now. :-) Sam just continues to amaze us everyday with her growing ability to understand EVERYTHING that goes on around her!!! She turns three in July (hard to believe). You can pretty much carry on any kind of conversation with her and she gets it. Her tantrums leave little to be desired though, but we are working on those. She is really doing well at preschool and we are looking forward to what comes next. I have to say she is the sweetest little girl and the best big sister, she LOVES to help take care of her brother. We are getting ready to go on our first vacation as a family of four. We are going to San Diego or 10 days to see family and friends and we can't wait!!!! We will update with some pictures from that trip when we get back. Hope all is well with everyone.

Growing, Growing

It has been a whirlwind 6 months!!! Jake is getting big and Sam gets funnier and smarter everyday. Sam will be going to preschool an extra day a week starting Monday, so she will go three days a week. She loves school and is doing so well. We are getting ready to take Jake to a head specialist because of some shaping issues he has because of favoring his right side, which has caused his right ear to sit closer to his face than his left. He may have to wear one of those helmets that apply pressure to the problem areas to correct it. We will fin out on Wednesday. If that is the case, hopefully it will only take 6-12 weeks to correct. We are so looking forward to the summer and watching the kids grow and play together.

Winter 2008/2009

Well it is 2009 already!!! Jake will be four months old on the 6th and Alison returns to work on the 5th. Were has the past four months gone? We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sam was really excited about Christmas this year and Santa coming. We were able to spend time with all of our family and we are Thankful that everyone is healthy again after having some nasty colds and Jake having a bout with RSV which landed us in the ER for a little bit on Christmas Eve morning. Hope all is well with everyone.

Fall update

Well it is November already!!!!

Jake is 2 months old and 14 pounds!!!! We can't believe how fast he is growing, Sam was just reaching 16 pounds at 6 months. We are planning for him to eat us out of house and home as he gets older. Sam is really enjoying preschool and of course she is crazy about her little brother. It will be fun to see how they interact as they get older. We have been very busy lately with Apple Hill and the pumpkin patch, Halloween and getting ready for the holidays coming up. We are excited for this upcoming year and all the milestones with the kids. We are hoping that we will get to introduce Jake to more family and friends and take some fun family vacations as a family of four. Keep checking in with us as I try to update monthly.

Jake and Samantha update

Well, Jake is now a month old and getting so big!!!! Sam is still taken by him and being a very good helper. She really loves her little brother, we can't wait to see how they get along and play together as they get older. We will celebrate our third wedding anniversary on Oct. 9th and can't believe how much has happened in the past three years!!!! It is truly amazing to watch our family grow and we realize how incredibly lucky we are to have two beautiful, healthy children. We hope all is well with everyone and will update again soon.

Baby Jake's arrival

Well, Baby Jake joined our family on September 6th at 6:12 AM weighing 7 lbs. 14 oz. and 20 1/2

inches. We are adjusting to life with two little ones and Sam is crazy about her little brother!!! We really look forward to introducing Jake to everyone. He is such a sweet baby and we can't wait to see what his personality develops into.

Sam's 2nd Birthday

Wow, has it been 2 years already?? Sam is getting so big and everyday is something new. She had such a good time at her party and it was so fun to see her really getting into the fact that it was her "Happy Day" as she calls it. We really had a good time too.

We are on baby countdown and can't wait for baby Jake to get here.

Family Update

Well we are a very busy family this year!!! Samantha is turning two and she is going to have a baby brother in September!!!!! We are really looking forward to our new family addition and we are starting to get his room together. Sam is quite the character these days and she is really starting to put little sentences together. She will start preschool two days a week on August 1st!!!! So many new milestones!!! We hope to be able to spend time with family and friends in the months to come.
